The average cost of a new vehicle is $47,000!
For that kind of investment, you want it to last as long as possible. Therefore, you pay for regular maintenance, new tires, oil changes, you make sure that it has enough fuel to get you where you need to go. You wash and wax it occasionally, so it looks good too! But it still won't last your lifetime. The average length of time owners keep a new vehicle is around 6 years. 200,000 miles is the average expectancy of your car. And so we repeat the process. Buy a new vehicle (maybe even nicer), pay for maintenance, keep it running well as long as possible and replace.
I am 45 years old and I'm technically on my 8th vehicle in 29 years of driving?!
And I know it won't be my last.
There is one vehicle I've had for all 45 years and it will last my lifetime... MY Body.
I can't replace it, although I could replace some parts ;).
I can keep up on regular maintenance though, to keep it running smoothly and keep me going strong for hopefully another 45 years.
Because when your body breaks down, you can't simply buy a new one.
